Esther Samuels-Davis was born and raised in Catskill, New York. In 2005 she moved to Oakland California to study art at California college of the Arts, and there received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in printmaking. After school she worked as a letterpress printer for Carrot and Stick Press, while continuing to focus on illustration and etching. Following another urge to shake things up, in 2012 Esther moved to Berlin Germany and has been living, working and drawing there since.
A bit about the work:
I am interested in forms of connection that aren't physically apparent. A lot of my images deal with showing the invisible world of emotions and the personification of thoughts. These pieces present possibilities that, "there is much more than meets the eye," when it comes to the connections we have to one another and to our surroundings.
